That’s me getting welcomed to the community of scholars by GMU’s president, Alan Merton. I’m not sure why, but we ended up being far more chatty than most. (Maybe I just took longer to learn the super-secret academia handshake? I’ll never tell.)
It was a Very Good Day. Highlights included:
* The swank robes.
* At ICAR’s commencement ceremony getting to enjoy graduation kudos and faculty kudos. I was publicly thanked for my ICAR teaching work by one of the graduating MA students and by the graduating BA students as a whole. Since I’ve had this quirky dual role as both student and adjunct faculty for such a long time, it was really nice to get the kind acknowledgements on both sides of the fence.
* I came home to find a contract in the mail for my new job. I’ve been offered and have accepted an assistant professor position at U Baltimore’s Center for Negotiations and Conflict Management.
So, yes… a Very Good Day.
