I’m fairly sure that whoever coined the phrase “surf the net” never actually surfed.

Poor Ben has been running a fever with the sniffles, yuck!, so he and I are spending a sick day at home. He’s mostly napping, and I’m mostly working, and I figured it would be handy to keep an eye on him. Sure, there’s the audio monitor in his room. But when you’re doting up a storm over your sick kiddo, the richer the media the better. Plus, who am I to turn up chance to tinker with tech?

So, I pulled out the ever-handy Eee PC, and with the help of the eee user community’s wiki, I was able to setup the Eee as a streaming webcam. And then, by poking a hole in my wireless router’s firewall, I was able to let ImaginaryGirl and the rest of the extended family join in on the wonder that is BenTV.

And so here’s Ben, undeterred by feeling miserable, reaching up to thwap on his, well, whatever you call that thing on the side of the crib that plays music while little monkeys swing around.
