summer days
Ok, let’s start with the pictures. Despite the outrageous heat, I went exploring at the Locust Grove Nature Center. It’s right by where I’m taking tennis lessons, just a mile or so from my house. From the road it looks like a just a little hut with a few bird feeders, but it turns out there’s a long network of trails behind it and a gigantic sprawling meadow that seems right out of the pages of Bloom County.

Unfortunately I didn’t bring a wide angle lens with me, so I couldn’t take any pictures to do the meadow justice. Next time.

All of my friends and acquaintences in Europe rave about Skype. I can’t do the tech talk, but when they travel from home, they all call now using Skype. What’s the count-down until our fair congress decides that cheap telecommunication should be made illegal?

Skype rules. I’ve been using it for a few months to talk to friends and family in Japan and the U.S. for free, which is a real advantage when you live in NZ. Once the naked DSL thing takes hold, it may be over for the long distance telcos.
