about me
About me…
* I’m a professor in negotiations & conflict management. My Ph.D. is in Conflict Analysis & Resolution. My MA and BA degrees were in International Affairs.
* In addition to my teaching, I do consulting work and research in international development and alternative dispute resolution.
* Alternative careers that tempt me, but for the fact that I actually do really love academia: photography and poker.
* I started this blog several years ago when I began teaching courses in cyberculture (yes, an academic tangent for me). Now that the blog has found a permanent home, I’m in the process of bringing over the past archives. I’ve been a long-time fan of using technology to build community and for sharing what I consider folk journalism. I began with running a BBS back in the mid/late 1980s.
* I’m not a fan of the courts’ recent legal interpretation of copyright law–it’s as if they’ve forgotten that the protection of intellectual property was crafted with the underlying value of promoting development for the public good, not as a limitless handout to innovators. That said, as an academic, I value putting value on intellectual and creative work.
